Our Programs

Our programs provide the following:

- Robust drinking and environmental water internships

- Water STEM programs for K-12 students

- Workforce development training for adults who seek to become construction contractors in the water industry

- Replenish an aging wastewater technical operator population

- Provides an immediate path for entrepreneurship

Drinking Water Paid Internship

Employee Ready Interns

We provide Employee Ready Interns. BlueServ’s internship is a highly technical, fully paid 12-15 month internship program for high school graduates and other qualifying individuals over 18 years old. The program functions like an apprenticeship with customized features providing a robust experience for both the intern and the future employer. 

 

Our value proposition provides a direct financial impact to KUB which includes the following:

 

1. BlueServ interns are more technically proficient on day one of full-time

employment.

2. Interns are well versed in advanced WW issues.

3. Interns will be prepared for local environmental issues. 

4. Invested in KUB culture and ready to work.

5. Interns are more confident about their career trajectory and goals.

Environmental Water Internship

The Environmental Water Internship Program is a paid technical skills training program that supports communities and individuals in strengthening their involvement in and management of water and fish resources. The internship is designed to bring training opportunities into the community in a way that is supportive, relevant and respectful.


It provides paid internships to local participants to develop technical and professional employability skills and achieve certifications to work in water and fish resource management, as well as a paid coordinator position. Interns use project-based learning to develop those skills while gathering real data in their home community. 


The program has two main stages: the Planning & Engagement stage, and the Training Program


Phase 1 – Planning & Engagement

  • Collaborative partnership planning
  • Community engagement information sessions
  • Identification of community environmental priorities to inform project – based learning


Phase 2 – Training Program

  • 15 month paid training program
    • 10 weeks of in-person training and out in the lakes, rivers and streams
    • 60 weeks of combined work placement and remote learning activities
  • BlueServ certifications in:
    • Water Quality Monitoring
    • Environmental Data
    • Fish Conservation


  • Paid work placements in the community for interns while not in the classroom or out in the lakes, rivers and streams (e.g. Lands and Resource office, Environmental Department, Public Works, Health Department).

BlueWorks – Workforce Development

BlueServ works to perform This program retrains pre-screened adults on a

workforce development training model seeking a career in water science.

Graduates will follow the paid internship program. These graduates will receive

significant exposure to entrepreneur training which bolsters their ready to

compete for government contracts in the water science space.

Water Pioneers – STEM program

BlueServ will operate a STEM program for youth from challenged communities on the elements of water science, a diverse curriculum of environmental issues including geography and the watershed. Our programs, designed for K-12 students, include multiple hands-on STEM workshops that explore custom curricular and local water science concepts. As we stated our programs will cover Environmental water as well as Drinking Water.


Examples of STEM school-based programs include the following:


A. STEM School programs – Practical, hands-on STEM workshops that

explore a variety of water science and other environmental concepts.

B. Water Fest – Quarterly events held with curriculum based half or full day

programming that engages students to interact with an array of STEM

activities. Activities include water and STEM stations, experiments,

contests, team exercises and demonstrations.

C. Water camps day field trips to rivers, lakes and streams.
